Wine – it’s a serious business, right? All sweeping violins and dramatic sunsets, poetic love declarations and staring off into the distance. Well, nope, not always.

Sometimes wine gets to be as fun, flirty and fabulous as Marilyn Monroe in a convertible, with her hair tied up in in a polka-dot headscarf and her pretty feet up on the dash as the road unwinds towards some exotic destination. And it just so happens that we know a wine like this…

Ladies and gents hold onto your hats, because this summer Weltevrede Estate brings you Turkish Delight *insert rollicking rom-com tunes*.  It’s a tale as old as time, the story of unexpected love that blossomed into a splendid (yet quirky) union. Gewürztraminer is a seductive cultivar with some spicy German swagger, while Pinot Noir is an alluringly serious varietal with gorgeous hidden depths. Bring the two together and it’s a love story for the ages, resulting in a tantalizing semi-sweet rosé that sings of litchi, rose petals and candy floss.

In the spirit of this off-beat romance, we invite you to ditch the drama this summer, and join us in getting a little bit whimsical with your wine. Dust off your sense of mischief, relocate your funny bone and leave the snobbishness at the door, because Turkish Delight is all about tasty high jinks and delectable shenanigans. In fact, we’re going to double-dare you to think beyond the same old, same old wine-in-a-glass, and dress up Turkish Delight in your favourite summertime guise. Popsicles, spritzers, cocktails, you name it – this daring dame always brings her A-game.

So, how about it? Are you ready to steer clear of the drama, and dial up the laid-back vibes with Weltevrede Turkish Delight this summer? Go on, you know you want to – it will change the way you think about wine, we pinkie-promise.

Turkish Delight was launched in 2017 and forms part of the Simplicity range that was launched by Weltevrede in 2010 – a collection of unpretentious, striking, fresh and relevant vintages that have been tailored for uncomplicated enjoyment.

The historical Weltevrede Estate is situated just outside of Bonnievale in the picturesque Robertson Wine Valley. The Jonker family has been stewards of the land for four consecutive generations, starting with founder Klaas Jonker who named the farm ‘Weltevrede’ (‘well satisfied’) in 1912. Today, the winery is managed by fourth-generation winemaker Philip Jonker, who strives to inspire inward contentment and create idyllic wines that echo the farm’s beautiful setting.
