It’s almost time to grab the napkins and sharpen those kitchen knives because Come Dine With Me South Africa returns to screens on Wednesday, 5th March at 20:00 – and the stakes (get it?) have never been higher!
Premiering on BBC Lifestyle (DStv Channel 174), the hit SAFTA-winning hosting competition series returns with its signature mix of laugh-out-loud entertainment, kitchen chaos, and culinary triumphs.
As always, the show’s razor-sharp narrator, Dave Lamb, will be serving up his iconic witty commentary as four strangers attempt to host the ultimate dinner party each week – all vying for the coveted R10 000 prize and title of Best Host.
The first episode of the season kicks off in Johannesburg, where HR Manager Dricus, Creative Consultant Lester, Author Anna and Sports Coordinator Hilton bring their best and worst to the dining table.
Hilton’s limited palate makes him an easy target for jokes, while Lester’s fine-dining expectations raise some sceptical eyebrows. From Peruvian ceviche to Korean BBQ and even a homemade ice-cream debate, viewers can expect an eccentric mix of flavours and fiery personalities.
Season 10 of Come Dine With Me South Africa is expected to bring even more culinary drama to screens – with clashing personalities like a Beauty Queen and an Esoteric Mental Health Guru battling it out for Best Host in Gauteng, to the series heading to Mbombela for the first time ever, where hosts go out of their way to impress with “Island Style” and “Around the World” inspired menus. Plus, a Real Housewife of Cape Town showcases her hosting skills.
Produced by Rapid Blue, which has brought all 10 seasons of Come Dine With Me South Africa to life, the show continues to prove why it’s a BBC Lifestyle fan favourite. Adapted from the global hit format, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, the South African edition has served up unforgettable characters like the Pink Lady in Season 7 to some truly bizarre menus like a giraffe neck main in Season 9.
Ryan Deacon, the Executive Producer, reflected on the show’s success, saying, “Reaching 10 seasons is evidence of how much South Africans love this deliciously chaotic show. We’ve had unforgettable dinner parties, unexpected friendships, and a whole lot of hilarious disasters in the kitchen. Season 10 promises to be so much bigger, as we travel to Mbombela, Rustenburg and Bloemfontein for the first time.–We hope our viewers are prepared for the return of this iconic show.”
