MasterChef South Africa
Season 5 has been delighting SABC audiences with unique themes. The home cooks have already whipped up dishes for the “apple of their eye” and had to impress the Mzansi-born London piemaker, Chef Nokx Majozi. In the next episode, it’s all about a melting pot of South African fashion.

Style icon Jackie Burger arrives in the kitchen with a bevy of models dressed in spectacular, unique outfits created by trendsetting Mzansi designers. The elegant former editor-in-chief of Elle South Africa and founder of Salon 58, famous for its classy fashion and food soirées, then tasks the MasterChef South African home cooks to bring an imaginative interpretation of the eye-catching designs onto a plate.

With the Pick n Pay Pantry bursting with bright, beautiful, and exotic ingredients fit for a flight of foodie imagination, the contestants can conjure up an in-vogue feast for the eye to match the garments. However, they soon discover that it’s easier said than done. The models are randomly matched with the home cooks, and Jackie points out that their dishes will be judged on how they interpret the standout elements of their allocated fashion items. Hence, the contestants must pay attention to the outfit’s colour, texture, patterning, layering, and unexpected nuances.

What if the model at your side wears a monochromatic black-and-white attire? And how do you ensure your dish is appealing to the eyes and the taste buds? The contestants are well aware that this is an elimination challenge!

Who will have to hang up their apron next? Will this challenge be a breeze for contestants like Bridget, Nabila, Tina, and Shreya, who have impressed the judges with their creativity and plating skills? Will it go sideways for Nash, who redeemed himself in the previous episode? And will there be new shining stars in the MasterChef South Africa kitchen?

The exquisite fashion fare that will put the MasterChef South Africa contestants’ food flair to the test are from Viviers Studio, the Frances V.H. Mohair Voorskoot Vygie Collection, Mzukisi Mbane, Lara Klawikowski, Superella, LaurenceAirline, Studio 189 and From me to you.
