Celebrity chefs come together to cook for children with life threatening illnesses Cooking for Dreams Fundraiser, in association with Discovery Health, takes place on 1 September 2022 with event in Johannesburg and online cook-along simultaneously

Reach for a Dream has been working tirelessly to make a difference in the lives of children fighting life-threatening illnesses for more than three decades. Last year, Reach For A Dream Foundation set a Guinness World Record TM for the most people cooking online simultaneously, raising R850 000 through the Cooking for Dreams campaign. Recently voted the best NGO in South Africa, the foundation strives to double the funding to impact more dreamers and continue the journey of hope.

The Cooking for Dreams event will take place on 1 September 2022 and aims to unite supporters, to both a virtual and live cook along experience. Hosted by South Africa’s celebrity chefs David Higgs, The Lazy Makoti and J’Something, participants will get to cook a delicious appetizer and main course meal. The starter will be crafted by The Lazy Makoti and the main course, conceptualised by Higgs. J’ Something will be the master of ceremony offering tips and tricks and bringing the evening together. Beyond being tasty, the dishes have been approved
by the team at Discovery Vitality Healthy Food studio. To add to the wonderful offering of ingredients, participants will also receive a complementary Lindt chocolate, Jacob’s coffee, Kings Tea, a bottle of wine and a free surprise gift.

For only R550 participants will receive a cooler bag with all the ingredients to feed a family of four, sponsored by Woolworths, conveniently delivered to your door, courtesy of DPD Laser. Then participants can join in virtually to cook along with the chefs, learning new techniques while enjoying an entertaining evening with family or  friends.

This year, the goal is to reach 3 000 and I believe we can do it”, said Julia Sotirianakos, CEO Reach For A Dream. “Being part of a record setting project is really exciting, and in doing so, each person that participates can help make a positive difference in the life of a child facing a life-threatening illness,” she added.
