Roxette’s return to South Africa was nothing short of magical. Personally it was a time warp of the sweetest kind – straight back to my teenage years.
The evening was drenched in nostalgia, where every chord and lyric stirred memories of youth, love and the undeniable magic of Roxette’s music.
What made it even more special was sharing it with my mom, a testament to the timeless nature of their lyrics. Seeing multiple generations united in song.
While the irreplaceable force of Marie Fredriksson was sorely missed, Lena Philipsson’s presence brought a new energy to the performance.
From the moment the first notes of Big Love filled the arena to the final echoes of Queen of Rain, it was a journey through the most cherished hits. My personal highlights included Crash! Boom! Bang!, Fading Like a Flower and the sing-along favourite, It Must Have Been Love.
There was an undeniable energy in the air and spirits soared as Joyride took us to the end of the evening. As the final notes faded, I was left with an overwhelming sense of gratitude. Roxette’s music has not only stood the test of time but has also continued to bring people together, generation after generation.
Thank you Per and Lena for a celebration of memories, emotions and the enduring power of music.
