In the words of Tannie Maria, “every layer of flavour adds more depth – it just keeps getting more delicious”. The dish being served is a multiple murder investigation – and it’s the ‘amuse-bouche’ for the second course of Recipes for Love & Murder, coming to M-Net (DStv Channel 101) on Thursday, 23 January 2025 at 8pm.

The first trailer for season 2 shows how, after a massive fire engulfs the small town of Eden, a fateful chain of events is triggered and Tannie Maria, Jessie and Khaya get dragged into a multiple murder investigation that unearths the town’s darkest secrets.

Maria Doyle Kennedy returns as ‘Tannie’ Maria Purvis, along with Tony Kgoroge (Detective Khaya Meyer) and Kylie Fisher (Jessie September). Joining them for the second course are Wynand Ferreira (Moffie, Mooiweer en Warm, Wyfie); Gerard Rudolph and Hlubi Mboya (Blood Psalms, I Am All Girls).

The series is based on the acclaimed series of Tannie Maria Mystery novels by best-selling South African author Sally Andrew.

“Season 2 of Recipes for Love & Murder is darker, denser and more layered than the exceptional first season,” says Waldimar Pelser, Director: Premium Channels at MultiChoice. “This season, we go to darker places in a seemingly innocent world and viewers are in for a treat with some real powerhouse performances”.

Thierry Cassuto, Both Worlds founder and Executive Producer, teases what’s to come in the second season: “Fans will enjoy being taken back to Tannie Maria’s charming house and kitchen, and to the seemingly ‘back to normal’ town of Eden. Will this peace last long? Probably not. Will Maria and the charming and quiet detective finally get together? Maybe. The only certainty is this: there will be more mouth-watering recipes, more complicated love, and a little more murder…”.

Recipes for Love & Murder is directed by Jozua Malherbe and Karen Jeynes and produced by Thierry Cassuto in a partnership between AMC Networks’ Acorn TV, MultiChoice and Both Worlds Pictures, in co-operation with Global Screen.
